Our Week in the Forest
This week's learning intentions:
2-3 - Notice differences and ask questions relating to characteristics of characters in stories (and in the world around them).
3-4 - Find solutions to conflicts and rivalries.
This week we had Galactic Fun in the forest! Our Terrestrial Explorers travelled through time and space to transport themselves to planets all over the solar system, learning about the different planets and the things that make them different - for example, did you know that Uranus smells of eggs because of all the sulphur it releases? Or that Venus’s year is shorter than one of its days? Or that Neptune and Uranus experience diamond rain? Just a few of the things the educators found out and passed on to some of our adventurers! 🌎 🪐
Our astronauts flew between planets which our wonderful educators hung from the trees above, thought about what it meant to be an alien - that they did not come from Earth - and which planet they would liked to have come from. They wore moon boots and learned that walking on the moon is tricky because the gravity there is different to Earth. 🧑🚀
The children became Alien Lords, creating their own planets and aliens from leaves found in the forest, again talking about what made them different, they cleared areas for moon bases and science labs to be built and overcame the tyrannical rule of alien Simon! Which they found hysterical! 👽🛸
Our wonderful creators also had a day where Jamie and Paula lead a party of ‘rocket builders’ out on an adventure walk, where they learned about using air to create a rocket launch and then launched some of their own! Then, with help from Sam, our builders whittled some sticks, stuck on a rocket and, using straws and a big blow of their own, created mini rockets for ‘blasting off’. 🚀
And if that wasn’t exhausting enough, our construction workers cleared an area of the moon to construct a Moon Base and used magna-tiles to build rockets and sing songs about travelling to and from the moon! 🌕
Don’t worry everyone, they have landed back on Earth in time for enjoying their weekends at home, for some rest before we begin more adventures next week! 🪐
